What is Microblading?

Microblading is an eyebrow tattoo that is performed using a manual tool. This tool is composed of a row of super fine needles in the shape of a small blade that implants pigment beneath the skin. The pigment is implanted in the upper dermis to create thin, hair-like strokes.

Microblading is meant to be a subtle, natural enhancement to create the illusion of fuller, more defined brows. We only use the highest quality of pigments as well as disposable sterile needles.

How many sessions do I need?

The process consists of a minimum of two appointments, 8-10 weeks apart for best results. The first session usually heals lighter after the first two weeks, some clients prefer this, while others opt for a bolder look.

The second session we will reassess how they healed, and adjust anything necessary, as well as build on the previous session to make it look as realistic as possible. If you want to go darker and bolder at this appointment, we can.

Everyone heals differently, and some people may need a third touch up to get their desired look. Depending on your skin type and skin care routine, the pigment can last from 1-3 years. I usually suggest a color boost appointment to freshen up the color and shape after 12-14 months, some people may not need it that soon.

How to maintain?

After the first initial appointment, you will have a healing period that is usually 7-14 days. We will go over, in detail, the after care for this time.

After the brows are healed, you can go back to normal activity with perfect, waterproof brows.

If you are outside in the sun, you will always want to keep SPF on the tattoo, or it will discolor. Avoid all active ingredient skin care products, directly on top of the brow area, as this may also cause discoloration. These ingredients include Retinol, AHA/BHA, and Vitamin C.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid Botox for 30 days before and after your appointment.

Avoid using Retinol/Retin-A, AHA/BHA, and certain anti-aging serums 30 days before.

Avoid Chemical peels or laser facials for 30 days before and after appointment.

No Accutane for one year.

Avoid blood thinners and steroids.

No Caffeine or alcohol for 24 hours before.

Avoid Aspirin pain relievers, vitamin E, and fish oil 3-5 days before.

Please do not tweeze or wax your eyebrows for 2 weeks before.

Do not tan, or work out the morning of your procedure.

If you have a cold sore, get a prescription from your doctor and start taking 3 days prior.

After care?

Immediately after appointment, you will need to blot your brows with a tissue every few minutes for an hour. This will soak up any lymph fluid to reduce heavy scabbing and build up.

Wash brows with approved cleanser 2 hours after the procedure, immediately after blot with clean paper towels and apply a small grain sized amount of healing balm to the area. Repeat this process every morning and night for 10 days.

Do not touch your brows outside of cleansing and applying healing balm. If itchy, tap with a clean q-tip.

Avoid sweating and working out for 7-10 days during the healing process. You want to make sure you do not sweat at all the first 3 days, as it is most crucial in healing.

Avoid all sun, and if outside you must wear a hat and large sunglasses to protect the brows for 7-10 days.

Do not take super hot showers, baths, or get in the hottub during healing, as the steam will prematurely remove pigment.
If brows get wet outside of washing, immediately blot with clean, dry towel.

The brows will start peeling and flaking around day 7, do not pick or pull the flakes off! Leave them alone, as removing them will pull out the pigment underneath and will not heal well. Let the flakes fall off naturally.

Sleep on your back as much as possible during healing, do not sleep on your face.
